Caribbean Travel Guide

caribbean cruises

CRUISES

The time cruises were only for older people or the rich are long gone. I made several cruises in the Caribbean. Find out in this Caribbean travel guide why cruises are fun and relaxing! And there is so much to do and see!

And no, you won’t get bored on these ships, there’s always something you want to do or see on the ship itself if you have a ‘fun’ day at sea. You’ll want more days on the ship, just so you can enjoy the facilities they have on these ships.

The biggest advantage of a cruise is, you unpack once and you go places all week, without having to life out of a suitcase! While you’re having fun at night or sleeping, they take you to your next destination.

For example on a cruise in the Caribbean, like I did, you see 3 or 4 islands in just ONE week!

So, this is the perfect vacation if you don’t have a lot of vacation days left and want to make the most out of it.

You can make it a relaxing vacation by reading a book by the pool, or go to one of the beautiful beaches when they make a stop somewhere. Or you can have an active vacation, go swimming, snorkeling, horseback riding, biking... what ever you want, they usually have it! You can see culture or do a mix of all of the above!

And at the same time have the luxury of a nice cabin and fantastic food in all sorts of restaurants. If you don’t feel like dressing up, just eat something in a diner.

But the formal nights you have to experience, even if you just go and sit somewhere and have a look around. The magic of a whole ship full of people dressed up, it’s something unique! But don't forget your fancy clothes, if you want to participate!

Cruises you can make in any part of the world. I only went to the Caribbean, which was AMAZING! (but than again I LOVE sun, sea and beach :) But you can also go to Alaska, Europe, Asia,...

It’s a great way of traveling. And like I said earlier, if you count the price of a good hotel, the wonderful food, the entertainment and the places you can visit on your way, a cruise is not that expensive.

Look for the deals for families, children are usually free on the boat until a certain age. If you book through airlines, you can even save miles for your next flight somewhere!

Personal experience

This Caribbean travel guide wouldn't be complete if I didn't talk about my own experiences. First let me tell you the thing I love most about cruises, beside the many things you can see in a short period of time, is the people you meet! On a cruise ship, during evening dinner at the restaurant, you’ve got the opportunity to choose from tables with 4, 6, 8 or 12 persons. It makes you talk to your neighbor who probably is from a whole other state or country as you are. That’s how I met my great American friends!

Leave the Caribbean travel guide to read my personal experience on a Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines. Or the Eastern Caribbean one!

Maybe you're interested in another cruise line? Well, I've been on a cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruises too! Check out my Southern Caribbean cruise with RCC.

A few cruise tips that might come in handy! Especially if you're a first time cruiser :) They are about dinner seatings, tipping, ... Things I learned from my several cruises.

caribbean Dominican Republic

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

There's more to the Caribbean than cruising! That's why you can find more information in this Caribbean travel guide about the Dominican Republic. DR is perfect for a relaxing vacation in the Caribbean! Pick out a 5* resort and get pampered by the staff.

Lovely settings, nice views by the sea, huge swimming pools, different cooking every night and entertainment so you won’t get bored if you’re not used to just laying on a beach chair reading your book in the sun.

You can learn how to dance Salsa, Merengue, Bachata ... or keep fit and get a tan (!) at the same time by participating at the aqua gym. Or just do nothing and let the others work up a sweat.

Staying at a luxurious resort in the Dominican Republic is something you won’t regret! It takes you to your own little paradise. Away from daily routine, stress, thoughts you might have. It’s like a dream world for the time you’re there.

The only decisions to make are 'What am I going to wear today?' 'What and where shall I eat?' 'Do I want to relax and enjoy the sun or do something active?' That’s your main concern if you’re here. And that feels wonderful! Above that the people laugh, sing, dance and are so happy, which makes it a little heaven on earth.

So, what are you waiting for? Go from this Caribbean travel guide to check out my Dominican Republic Travel Guide for my personal experience and tips. And plan that next vacation!

Can you tell I'm a big fan of the Caribbean? ;-)
