Isabelle's Travel Tips, Issue #0010 -- Madrid, Cruising, ... April 09, 2010 |
For the new subscribers, the newsletter contains `What`s new on the website?`, a destination in the spotlight and a Photo of the Month. I`ll publish some of my pictures, but it`s open for everyone to submit . If you would like to see your picture published on my website, just send me a note through my Contact me page. Time for another newsletter to get you thinking about those travel plans. I bet you all had enough of the Winter and welcome the Spring with open arms! The first flowers that stick their heads out of the ground to start a new season, birds singing out loud to let the world know the good weather is starting! Smiles that appear on people`s faces because of that tingling feeling of the sun. Yes, dear friends, Spring has arrived! I have been lucky, because I already experienced some lovely weather when I was visiting my friend in Madrid last month. So it was an easy choice which destination should be in the spotlight this newsletter :) What`s new? If you go on a cruise, how does it work with the cruise excursions? Do you book them in advance or onboard? I`ve put together some general information for you, so you are prepared when you leave for your lovely cruise and you don`t need to worry about anything: Cruise Ship Shore Excursions. Don`t forget to check out my reviews on the port of calls I`ve done on my last cruise: San Juan, St Thomas, Samana and Labadee. How about dinner arrangements? What to expect from food on cruises? Even if you`re not going on a cruise, you should check out the way they decorate the buffets!
I also got some nice contributions from guest bloggers in the last few weeks. You can find them at Favorite Blogger of the Week. They talk about Cooking lessons in Italy, The Best Dinner show, Living in Cancun, going on a "Voluncruise", Jindo Island and two city tours. One in Venice and one in Paris. Lots of lovely stories to read. And the last post was added today, if you`re ever in Brussels and you don`t know where to eat, I got some insider`s tips from Alison who lives there: 5 great restaurants in Brussels. Well, you`re up to speed now :) Destination in the Spotlight As I mentioned before, I choose Madrid as destination in the spotlight, because I made a trip there last month. This was my third trip to Madrid and it`s one of my favorite cities. This time I made a daytrip to El Escorial Monastery. El Escorial is a beautiful old building in a wonderful location close to the mountains. And you get get here easily by train. I had a lovely time in Madrid. Make sure to make a stop at the beautiful El Retiro Parque. We spent a sunny afternoon there.
I also met with some friends from Twitter and we tried out the Tapa places, check out `Where to eat in Madrid?` for some nice addresses! Madrid is a nice city to visit and has lots of little streets, city squares (plazas), fountains, ... That, together with yummy food & sun, and you got yourself a great combination for a lovely citytrip! Photo of the Month
