Isabelle's Travel Tips, Issue #008 -- 2010: Get ready to travel!
January 11, 2010

Welcome everyone to the first edition of Isabelle's Travel Tips in 2010!

Happy 2010! I hope you all had lovely Holidays and are ready for a Fabulous New Year filled with lots of travels ;-)

With a new year, the newsletter will undergo some changes too. I`ll recap more of the newest articles on my website. There will be a Photo of the Month. I`ll publish some of my pictures, but it`s open for everyone to submit . If you would like to see your picture published on my website, just send me a note through my Contact me page. And I`ll put a Spotlight on one destination.

What`s new?

As most of you know I made a Caribbean Cruise and a city trip to New York. I`m still working on getting the articles and photos of the cruise published. You`ll read more on that in the upcoming weeks. But I already uploaded pictures of New York in the Holiday Season. Have a look! Or go Christmas shopping yourself in New York ;-)

Central park, New York

If you`re considering visiting New York yourself, I wrote a review on the first hotel I stayed at: The MAve. The other hotel, The Muse, will get a review too, later. I can already tell you that that hotel was very well located! If you walked out the hotel to the right, you walked right into Times Square. It was also close to Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center.

For more practical info on how to get from JFK to Manhattan, click here. Also don`t forget to check out my New York Travel Guide for general info: hotels from previous trips, sightseeing and transportation from the Newark Airport, if you decide to fly into EWR, New Jersey.

Destination in the Spotlight

The Mirage, Las Vegas

Las Vegas! I remember when I made a tour through Western USA, thinking Las Vegas, would be nothing more than a gambling city. I have to admit I was wrong. Well, Las Vegas is of course in the first place to GAMBLE. You`ll notice that by a lot of things, for example, to find the restaurant, you have to go through the casino. Going for a swim, yep, through the casino. That`s how they try to make their money. Because the hotels aren`t that expensive and also they offer lots of good deals on food too. But they have to win some of that money back of course, heh, you`re in Las Vegas!

What I loved most was Las Vegas by night, it`s similar to Times Square. That also looks more alive at night. I remember our tour guide took us on a Las Vegas by night tour, seeing lots of different hotels: The Venetian, with the lovely ceiling that looks like you`re there in broad day light. Caesar Palace, The Mirage, … And of course, the Bellagio! All the hotels offer shows in the evening and the Bellagio has a water show that`s amazing. Check out the You Tube clip I found. Unfortunately it`s not my own, but it`s the same show and same song. Loved it!
