Support the Earthquake Recovery Efforts in Haiti
On January 12, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti just outside the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The devastation – in lives lost, property destroyed, and families displaced – is immense.
At the request of President Obama, President Clinton and President Bush are partnering to help the Haitian people reclaim their country and rebuild their lives.
To celebrate the Berlin Wall 20 years, the city is organizing the Festival of Freedom in Berlin.

Reopening of the Statue of Liberty's crown
As of saturday, 4th of July (also Independance day) the crown of the Statue of Liberty will open again for small groups. Visitors will be screened and escorted by a park ranger.
It's the first time visitors are allowed back since 2001.

As of June 1 2009, The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires U.S. and Canadian travelers to present a valid passport or other document that denotes identity and citizenship when entering the U.S. for land and sea travel into the U.S. WHTI went into effect for air travelers on January 23, 2007.

Cruise Ship Passengers: U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port) will be able to enter or depart the country with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the countries your cruise ship is visiting.
