Madrid City Break: getting ready!

Friday, June 5th 2009

I’m leaving for a Madrid city break tomorrow, together with my family! Yeah, I'm so excited! It's for my mum’s birthday and it's the first time we'll all be together for a trip. Mum, my brothers and my future sister-in-law. We're going for 3 days. It's not my first time in Madrid though. I've been there a couple of years ago and I had a great time. So, I'm really looking forward to going back :)

I already packed my luggage, well, I'm only taking a carry-on. I think for a city trip that's so much easier. You have it with you all the time and don't have to wait for your bags when you arrive. And because it's only for 3 days, I don't need that much.

Carry-on     Carry-on

I used my checklists to make sure I have everything. But I have to say, it's different to pack for a city trip of a few days than for a summer vacation or a long trip.

What you certainly need: passport, flight tickets, hotel reservation, money (+ credit cards), cell phone. But check my Essentials checklist for an extended list. As for clothes, because it's a sunny destination (well, I hope :) I'm taking 1 pair of long pants, 1 short, 1 capri, 2 t-shirts, 2 tank tops, 1 sweater, underwear, socks, 1 outfit to go out to dinner and as for shoes, I'm bringing my flip flops. And leaving with a good pair of walking shoes! Okay, I won't bore you with too many details. If you need a checklist for clothes, toiletries, ... click here! But do keep in mind if you only have carry-on with you, to check the 3-1-1 rule for liquids on the plane!

Because I've already been to Madrid I know where to go. But this time I'm hoping to see some different things than the famous sights such as Plaza Mayor, El Prado, Parc del Retiro, Palacio Real, ... I got some tips from a friend, so I'll check them out and tell about them later :)

Don't forget to come back to read more about my Madrid City Break! See you later!
