Best Western City Hotel Bologna review

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

On my trip from Venice to Sorrento, I choose for the Best Western City Hotel in Bologna to spend the night. The hotel is located at Via Magenta 10 – 40128 Bologna.

The strong points of Hotel BW City Hotel:

  • Good size of the room and bathroom
  • Free WiFi
  • Warm welcome at the reception

Full review

The Best Western City Hotel (3-star superior) – is situated close to “nerve centers” such as the railway station, the airport, the area for trade shows and the convention center (Palazzo dei Congressi). There are 92 rooms and they were completely refurbished in 2005.

The room had a nice size. It was clean and comfortable. The mattresses were a bit hard in my personal opinion, but further down the week, I discovered that this is how the beds are in Italy 🙂 There was a desk, TV and mini-bar available for your convenience. Also the bathroom was a good size, with a shower, sink, hairdryer, …
A plus for me was the free WiFi connection, you just have to ask for a password and username, which they provide you at the reception.

If you like a non-smoking room, don`t forget to ask when making your reservation. They have them available, but it`s not a non-smoking hotel.

In the morning there was a breakfast buffet which was served in a nice breakfast area. There was bread, cereals, fruit, coffee & tea and so much more…

As for the location of the hotel, it`s a 20-25 minutes’ walk to Piazza Maggiore, which is the center of historic Bologna. Or you can take a taxi, which will cost you around 8 euros, depending on the traffic. (Be careful that they don`t charge you too much, ask how much it will be before you get into the taxi. This tip was given to us by the receptionist! We had no problems when taking a taxi back at night.)

This hotel stay of 1 night was booked at a reduced rate, provided by Best Western Italy. However that doesn`t affect my honest opinion in this review about the hotel.
