Italy Trip Itinerary

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

Here`s my Italy Trip Itinerary, you can find the pictures and stories by clicking on the destinations 😉

Day 1: Arriving in Venice: A Day in Venice

Day 2: Venice – Bologna: picking up the rental car and driving 100 miles (160 km), about an 2 hour drive.

Day 3: Bologna – Sorrento: 385 miles (620 km), 6 hour drive without stops.

Day 4: Day trip to Capri with an amazing boat tour and in the early evening a drive along the Amalfi Coast: no miles today in the car. (Took the ferry from Sorrento to Capri)

Day 5: Driving from Sorrento to Calabria: this is a long drive (270 miles/440 km) and because of some road works it took us about 6 hours with a stop for lunch.

Day 6: After spending the morning in Satriano, we had to drive back to Rome to hand in the rental car. This drive took us around 7 hours, it`s 400 miles/645 km.

Day 7: Spending One day in Rome: no miles as we handed in our rental car yesterday at Rome airport.

Day 8:: Time to head back home…

These were the hotels I stayed at:

Hotel Al Malcanton, Venezia
Best Western City Hotel Bologna
Emily Suites
Courtyard Hotel Rome Airport
An airport hotel was cheaper than staying at the city and more convenient because of the return of the rental car & an early flight. We were with 4 persons and paid about 60 euros* for a car service from the hotel (and for a taxi coming back). The train from the airport costs 11 euro*/person. We paid a bit extra by using the car, but had the advantage of getting dropped in the city where we wanted.
