La Tejita Tenerife

A summer sunrise at la Tejita

I’d be the first to admit that Tenerife’s beaches aren’t in the top ten “beautiful beaches”.

Most are black sand, and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. The sand on this beach, La Tejita, not far from Tenerife South airport, is kind of a mixture of colors, but it is natural, rarely used by tourists (yay!) and quite long (remember this is a small island). My favorite time, though, is early morning, especially if I can get down there just before sunrise. I’ve seen some breathtaking dawns there.

It’s about five minutes by car from where I live, or 20 walking. Watching sunrise here, and walking my dog, produces such great vibes that my entire day goes better!
