During the World Cup I was intrigued by the National Anthem of each country. I find it peculiar that even though we all have our issues with laws & paying taxes and maybe even other things, when the National Anthem plays, we all proudly sing along. It`s a song that unites all the people to stand behind their country.
Is it because at that moment we feel we have to come together to let everybody know we are there as one? Is it our way of showing, in the World Cup example, that we support our team that`s playing. I don`t know, but I think it`s nice to have something that bounds us as a country.

I’m still very partial to the American one and think it takes the cake, but I’m inclined to agree that the German National anthem is quite beautiful.
