What to do in Central Park?

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

What is it that makes Central Park so special? Is it the size of this park? It`s 843 acres or 6 miles around the whole park!

Is it because it`s a place to relax in a vibrant city? Or just because there is so much you can do?

What I do know is, that this park is one of my favorite spots to go to while in NYC. I always try to make a stop here when I visit NY and on my last trip this was no different!

So what is there to do in Central Park?

Do as the locals do and go for a walk or bike ride.

Biking in Central Park
Have a picnic and play some ball at Sheep Meadow.

Or go for a lunch or coffee at Le Pain Quotidien near Sheep Meadow.

Hire a boat and make a boat trip.

Go see the fountain and watch or listen to performers dancing and singing…

Take a picture of Bow Bridge.

You probably recognize it from a movie you`ve seen as many movies have scenes are filmed in Central Park, see a list of all the films.

These are just a few of the things to do and see in Central Park.

Fun fact: ‘35 million people visit Central Park each year!’ Which is no surprise as Central Park is beautiful in every season.

If you want to have a view over the whole of Central Park, make sure you pay a visit to Top of the Rock.

Tip: you can also see the Empire State Building from the Top of the Rock, which in my opinion is an extra advantage to visit this top instead of the Empire Building, because at the Top of the Rock, you have both views. Of course for a spectacular view over the city of New York, a helicopter ride is the best, it`s on my list for next time!

Another park I really like is the one in Madrid: Retiro Park

Find out what else there is to do and how to get around in the great city of New York in my New York travel guide.
