Portuguese Phrases

Here are some Portuguese phrases you can use to communicate during your trip. I got a good tip from Tatiana, who lives in Brazil, telling me there are some differences in European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. So, I added a few Brazilian phrases (BP).


In case of emergency
Help! Socorro! (so-koh-roe)
Stop! Páre! (páar)
Call a doctor! Chame um medico!
(sjaam oeng mè-di-koe)
Call an ambulance! Chame uma ambulância!
(sjaam oe-mah am-boe-lañsija)
Call the police! Chame a policia!
(sjaam ah po-lie-sija)
The nearest hospital? Onde é o hospital mais próximo?
(ond’ è oe òsj-pie-tàl maaisj prò-sie-moe)
