Review of Southern Caribbean cruise

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

Here is a review of a different cruise line that also sets sail to the Caribbean, this time: Southern Caribbean! Hopefully these reviews will help you decide between the two cruise lines.

Royal Caribbean Cruises is a bit fancier than Carnival Cruises if you look at the decor on the ships. The people who book these cruises are also similar to the passengers on a Carnival ship.

Maybe a bit more families with teenagers, but still every age group is present. Again it depends on what season it is (Spring Break, the Summer). These ships also offer great facilities and ‘yummy’ food. 🙂

Royal Caribbean Cruises ‘Adventure of the Seas’

Port of departure: San Juan, Puerto Rico

This is a 8 day cruise with only one day at sea. The rest of the week you dock every day at a different island. Personally, I missed an extra day at sea. Because the ship itself has so much to offer and one day and the evenings is not enough to experience it all!!!

Ports

  • Bridgetown, Barbados
  • Castries, St. Lucia
  • St. Johns, Antigua
  • Philipsburg, St. Maarten
  • Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Excursions

Barbados has gorgeous beaches. But we wanted to do a bit of sightseeing, so we did a daytrip called ‘A flavor of Barbados’. This trip took us to The Rum Factory and Heritage Park. Next we saw an old plantation house ‘Sunbury’ and we ended our trip with a stop at a mahogany carving factory.

St. Lucia is a beautiful, green island, with lots to see! We booked the ‘Catamaran Day Cruise to Soufrière’. With a catamaran you make a scenic cruise out to Soufrière before driving to the plantation of Fond Doux Estate. Next is a stop at the volcano ‘Sulfur Springs’. After this ‘smelly’ visit you take the catamaran back to the ship.

Antigua, here we had a nice ‘Beach rendez-vous’ on stunning Runway Beach with a BBQ for lunch!

St. Maarten: at Divi Little Bay Beachyou can relax and overlook the beautiful Caribbean waters.

St. Thomas, here we saw Magen’s Bay, which is rated one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. We went for a swim, while looking at a luxurious yacht that had probably also heard of this famous place!
